No, anyone can self-refer to see a clinical psychologist.
However, you will need a referral to access certain rebates or funding providers (e.g. Medicare, WorkCover, Private Health).
The easiest way for new clients to check on availability or book an appointment is to email admin@withampsychology.com.au. We aim to respond to emails within 3 business days.
Witham Psychology endeavours to keep their session charge below that which is recommended by the Australian Psychological Society ($330 per hour from July 2027).
Please note that our fee schedule is reviewed in June of each calendar year and fees may be increased to reflect the APS recommended Schedule of Fees and Medicare indexation, which is published in June or July of each year.
The fee structure from July 2027 is outlined below:
The fee for an initial clinical psychology consultation is $320.
The fee for subsequent clinical psychology consultation (usually around 50-55 minutes) is $280.
The fee for clinical or professional supervision is $240 and may be subject to GST.
In certain circumstances, fees for supervision may be negotiated on an individual basis.
For clients referred for therapy under a Mental Health Care Plan (eligible for a maximum of 10 rebated sessions per calendar year), $145.25 can be claimed back from Medicare. From 1 July 2027, the rebate is $175.30.
For clients not eligible for Medicare rebates, private health fund rebates may be available – check with your health fund if applicable.
For clients referred under WorkCover, fees are billed in accordance with the current WorkCover Allied Health Service Table of Costs. WorkCover payments can be billed directly to WorkCover, provided they have approved psychology sessions in advance. If WorkCover are still assessing your claim, you may be required to pay fees upfront, which will be rebated directly to you by WorkCover upon approval of your claim.
