No, anyone can self-referral to see a clinical psychologist. You may need a referral to access certain rebates or funding providers (e.g. Medicare, WorkCover, Private Health).

The easiest way for new clients to check on availability or book an appointment is to email admin@withampsychology.com.au. We aim to respond to emails within 3 business days.

Witham Psychology endeavours to keep their session charge below that which is recommended by the Australian Psychological Society ($311 per hour). In certain circumstances, fees for psychological therapy and supervision may be negotiated on an individual basis. Witham Psychology fees as of 1st January 2025: ​ Initial Consultation (Clinical Psychologist) for new therapy clients: $285 ​ Subsequent appointments (50 Minutes): $250 ​ Extended Consultation (80 Minutes) (available only when clinically indicated and subject to availability): $350 ​ Initial & Subsequent Consultations (Clinical Psychology Registrar): $220 Clinical Supervision: $230 per hour​

Please check with your GP or Psychiatrist if you are eligible for any of the following. Medicare Rebates - Clinical Psychologist ​With a valid “Mental Health Care Plan” from your GP or Psychiatrist you can receive a Medicare rebate of $141.85 per session, for up to 10 sessions each calendar year. Medicare Rebates - General Psychologist With a valid “Mental Health Care Plan” from your GP or Psychiatrist you can receive a Medicare rebates of $96.54 per session, for up to 10 sessions each calendar year ​​ Chronic Disease Management Plan With a valid “Chronic Disease Management Plan” from your GP: you can receive a Medicare rebate of $60.35 for a maximum of 4 sessions per calendar year (Gap fee of $169.65). Check with your doctor if you are eligible. Private Health Funding If you have Private Health Cover, you may qualify for a rebate through your Private Health fund. Speak directly with your fund to determine your eligibility. ​ ​ WorkCover Queensland Dr Merryn Witham is registered with Work Cover Queensland as an approved allied health provider. If your claim has been approved, services can be directly billed to WorkCover Queensland in line with their schedule of fees. ​ Please note that you cannot claim both Medicare and Private Health rebates on the same session.
